Bluebonnet began in May of 2004. It was formed after a series of
informational meetings were held the previous fall and that spring. It
was instituted on May 8, 2004 by Mrs. Marlene Dibrell, Supreme Deputy in
Texas and Katie Hampton, Grand Worthy Advisor along with her Grand
Officers. The instituting occurred at 10:00 AM followed by initiation of
the 14 (I believe) charter members. Then following a lunch in the
fellowship hall, Emily Gamble was installed as WA, Valinn McReynolds as
WAA, Sarah Wilson as Charity, Kristina Smith as Hope, and Aubrey Olson as
Faith. These were the original leaders of Bluebonnet Assembly LT (Letters
Temporary) #6. After nine months of successful operation, Bluebonnet was
constituted on February 10, 2005 by Mrs. Marlene Dibrell. We officially
become Bluebonnet Assembly #378! Our Grand Deputy from May 2004 until
June 2007 was Mrs. Gay Pierce. She was instrumental in the formation of
Bluebonnet Assembly, as was her husband, Mr. Leonard Pierce. The Rainbow
Altar Bible was donated to the Assembly by Mr. and Mrs. Pierce. Mr. Bill
Jones and Mrs. Ola Jean Jones were also very supportive during the
formation and early years of Bluebonnet's history. The Bellville Masonic
Lodge #223 agreed to sponsor the Rainbow assembly when Mr. Chuck Olson was
serving as WM of the Lodge.
The assembly grew and prospered. Our first Grand Assembly was in Waco in
2004. We had only been Rainbow girls for two months, so we just watched
and learned. The next year, Grand Assembly was held in Corpus Christi and
we entered many competitions and were thrilled and honored to have many
winners. Also, our first Grand Appointment occurred in 2005 when Emily
Gamble was appointed to serve the Grand Assembly of Texas as Grand Love.
The next Grand Assembly, in 2006, was again held in Waco. There another
Bluebonnet first occurred. We had our first elected Grand Officer when
Emily Gamble was elected to serve as Grand Hope. Following Grand Assembly
2006, we traveled to Supreme Assembly, the International Assembly of
Rainbow, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There we had a great time making
international and state-side Rainbow friends. One highlight was
performing our "Power of One" skit in honor of the Supreme Worthy Advisor
to the Supreme Assembly audience. Another highlight was when Camille
Brunet won second place in ritualistic competition for Religion's lecture.
After another busy year of Rainbow activities, we traveled to Amarillo
for Grand Assembly 2007. There we experienced another first when
Bluebonnet received two Grand Floor Officer appointments. Aubrey Olson
was appointed to serve as Grand Patriotism and Kristina Smith was selected
to serve as Grand Confidential Observer. Emily Gamble received her
majority and was also selected to serve on the Grand Cross of Color Team
as the Sister of Victory. We also received two adult Grand appointments,
Larea Gamble now serves on the Grand Committee as Director of Grand
Representatives and Gary Gamble serves on the Grand Committee on Work.
Since its formation, Bluebonnet has been abundantly blessed with adults
and girls of the highest caliber. Much has been accomplished in a short
time and can be credited to the wonderful character and dedication of the
members and supporters of Bluebonnet #378.
